Jeddah, Tuesday, October 5th 2010 [ME NewsWire]:

A large number of regional and international experts are attending the three-day Saudi Water & Power Forum, “SWPF 2010”, which kicked off in Jeddah on Sunday under the theme "Sustainable Prosperity through Knowledge, Innovation and Cooperation”.

The annual forum, supported by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, plays a key role in uniting Saudi and international stakeholders to discuss the policies and strategies that will determine the future of the power and water industry in Saudi Arabia, as well as focusing on how to adapt to the changing market and achieve sustainable prosperity through knowledge, innovation and cooperation.

The largest gathering of water and power industry professionals in Saudi Arabia, SWPF brings together both local and international industry luminaries to achieve the knowledge, contacts and partnerships required for further development of business in one of the largest power and water markets in the world.

SWPF 2010 consists of a 3-day strategic forum, international exhibition, National Water Company Day and technical sessions led by the Bushnak Academy, as well as events offering extensive networking opportunities such as the Marafiq and GE Oil & Gas corporate luncheons, the Networking Roundtable Discussions and an exclusive gala dinner that will feature the prestigious SWPF Awards Ceremony hosted by ACWA Power International.

Speakers at this year's event include Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Minister of Water and Electricity Abdullah Al-Hussayen, Vice President of KACST Prince Turki bin Saud bin Mohammad, President of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Hashim Yamani, President of the Arab Water Council and former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, Governor of Saline Water Conversion Corporation Fehied Fahad Al-Shareef, CEO of the National Water Company Loay Al-Musallam, President and CEO of GE Power & Water Steve Bolze, and President and CEO of ACWA Power International Paddy Padmanathan.

SWPF has been organized by Bushnak Academy and CWC under the auspices of the Saudi Ministry of Water and Electricity. Al-Aghar Group, an independent Saudi non-profit think-tank, is preparing a study to determine the requirements of strategic planning for the water and power sectors.
