Syniverse and VIVA Further Enhance the Roaming Experience in Bahrain

New data roaming packages offer flexible pricing options based on individual usage

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, December 3rd 2014 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE) --Innovative mobile operator VIVA Bahrain has signed an agreement with Syniverse to bring its customers a selection of new, highly-customizable data roaming packages. With this innovative service, pre- and post-paid users will enjoy a hassle-free roaming experience.

The service allows VIVA Bahrain customers to select the data packages that best suit their needs based on their usage requirements. The solution suite, which includes Syniverse's Data Roaming Packs and Bill Shock Prevention, is designed to give the subscriber control over their data roaming options, greater insight into their roaming usage and the ability to maintain roaming costs.

Commenting on the new service, Saad Odeh, VIVA Bahrain Chief Wholesale and Enterprise Officer, said: “In our continuous efforts to satisfy our customers’ needs, we seek to introduce the newest and most innovative services to the market. VIVA, in collaboration with Syniverse, allows customers to control their data usage while traveling abroad. The service offers different controlled packages in selected countries that fit the specific needs of individuals. Additionally, it allows customers to manage their costs and avoid ‘bill shock’ by alerting them via text message when they reach specific amounts of spending.”

High rates of smartphone penetration, alongside highly competitive pricing structures, have created a dynamic market in the Middle East. The region’s smartphone penetration is projected to grow nearly 40 percent by 2015, which will help MENA take the lead as the second-largest mobile phone population of any region in the world, according to eMarketer’s latest Global Media Intelligence Report.

"Voice and messaging services have long been must-haves for mobile users, and today, data services are equally vital," said Nour Al Atassi, Regional Vice President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Syniverse. “Our agreement with VIVA Bahrain builds on a long and successful relationship between the two companies that includes VIVA’s use of Syniverse’s Data Clearing House solution, among many other solutions."
