Abu Dhabi Police Runners Take the Lead in the “Desert Challenge” Championship

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, October 27th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Abu Dhabi Police runners’ team, consisting of Saud Al Zaa'bi, Sultan Al Dhanhani and Mohammed Al Abdouli, led by Rashed Butti Al Qubaisi, achieved first place in the teams’ category at the Physical Strength Championship, ‘Desert Challenge’. The ceremony held to reward the winners was held in Dubai last Friday and attended by a number of Dubai Police officials, athletes and media representatives.

Rashed Butti Al Qubaisi from Abu Dhabi Police ranked second in the Singles men’s category, while Halvard Borchiem took first place, followed by Francesco Santo in third place. H.E. Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, crowned the top three winners in the three categories; teams and men and women’s singles.

The race, now in its second edition, is one of the most famous thrilling competitions in the UAE, and is sponsored by the Dubai Sports Council. The race included a series of challenges that test competitors’ physical and mental strength, as well as teamwork skills and general fitness of participants. More than 2500 competitors of different nationalities and ages competed in the three categories of this year’s championship, which was held at the Ruwaya Training Field of the Dubai Police Academy
