Etisalat Academy launches ‘2nd Eye on Government 2010’ in Abu Dhabi

Under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Etisalat Academy today launched the ‘2nd Eye on Government 2010”. The seminar kicked off under the theme of ‘Knowledge-Based Economy: Leading Transformation, Sustainability, Innovation.’ In collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, the seminar will take place on 20th and 21st December 2010 at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahar Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE.



His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, delivered the keynote at the seminar, where he discussed the benefits of capitalising on a knowledge-based economy to enhance the growth of the UAE a number of sectors.



The seminar aims to highlight the necessary components required to build knowledge – based economies and its impact on the development in public organisations. The event also highlights challenges facing public organisations in this sector and how to remove barriers that prevent organisations from shifting to a knowledge-based economy, and finding suitable solutions.



This event is part of a three-seminar initiative which will take place this year and in 2011. All three seminars are designed to support the vision of the UAE Government in developing the public sector and providing it with the required capabilities to achieve organisational excellence, economic development, and develop leadership skills among UAE nationals.

The first seminar which took place last June discussed strengthening competitiveness in the UAE public sector. The second seminar focuses on knowledge based economies while the final seminar will discuss strategic leadership development best practice.”

On the first day, the seminar touches on four key topics, namely; including the challenges and opportunities in the knowledge economy, the change in organisations’ management within the knowledge-based economy, competitiveness and stability in the knowledge-based economy and transformation into a knowledge-based economy.



On the second day, four workshops will be hosted, that discuss how a knowledge based economy is created, the necessary skills to compete in the global economy, the role of innovation in building a knowledge society and the learning organization in a knowledge economy.



The Seminar will be attended by an assembly of leading figures, decision makers, business leaders and executives, managers of strategic management and organisational performance, managers of marketing centres and call centres, marketing and corporate communications managers, training managers and directors of administrative development, planning managers, human resources systems development managers, in addition to officers, leaders and official executives in the armed forces and the police.
