Abu Dhabi Community Police Concludes a Ramadan Session in Al Shamkha


ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, July 29th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The first Ramadan session in the Al Shamkha area, which was organized by the Community Service Centre, concluded. The Community Service Centre, an affiliate of Community Police Department in Abu Dhabi, held a two-week session that was launched on the 4th day of Ramadan. It featured sporting and cultural events to celebrate the holy month.

Major Abdullah Al Harithi, Chief of Community Police Affairs Section in the Peripheral Areas, noted that the organization of such events is in line with the center’s plan to serve the community in this area during the month of Ramadan. The sports and cultural events will continue throughout the month of Ramadan with the participation of many people from the region.  This participation enhances their relationships, and fills the younger generation’s leisure time during their summer vacation.

“Alongside the sporting events, the center hosts several cultural and awareness-raising activities including several courses on English, religious education about fasting and worship, and how to make use of the blessings of Ramadan,” added Major Al Harithi.

First Lieutenant Salem Al Katheeri, Director of the Awareness and Prevention Branch at the Community Police Department, noted that 20 teams of from the region took part in the sporting matches. The tournament ended with the victory of the “Bait Al Mutawarid” team, which defeated the “Olympic 2” team in the final mach.

Furthermore, the center hosted a series of religious lectures, which benefited the region’s residents. The session included various activities, such as holding Ramadan Councils with the participation of a large number of people from the Al Shamkha area. These councils tackled a number of community-based topics of interest, as well as finding solutions to the highlighted issues, in cooperation with the Community Police Officers.
