ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, July 28th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The Abu Dhabi Police organized an event today on the occasion of the Zayed Day for Humanitarian Work in the memory of HH Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May God Have Mercy on His Soul). The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department distributed brochures and booklets to the public on the humanitarian and charitable projects in cooperation with Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation.

Commenting on the occasion, Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, said: “The booklets distributed introduce the public to the achievements and projects of the charitable foundations, especially those ordered by HH Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in fields of health, charity, rescue and scientific research. The foundation’s support of the day’s events promotes charitable work made by the UAE and spreads the culture of such activities among UAE nationals and residents.”

Colonel Ibrahim Al Shamsi, Deputy Head of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, stressed the department’s commitment to participate in the Zayed Day for Humanitarian Work activities in cooperation with the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation by introducing the public to the foundation, its continuous work, and its role in developing and expanding the circle of charitable work.

He said that the charitable and humanitarian work carried out by HH Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May God Have Mercy on His Soul) reflects the good humanitarian values that he upheld and leaves a great impact on the culture of philanthropy at the global level.

The event was attended by Muhammed Saeed Al Qubaisi, Project Manager at the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation Projects, along with a number of officers.

In the same context, the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department handed the Faraj Fund a sum of money to support its programs to help targeted segments of Punitive and Correctional Establishments inmates in order to release them from prison and reduce their families’ suffering.

Colonel Ibrahim Al Shamsi commended the efforts of the fund in helping insolvent inmates who are waiting to pay their financial debts and get released to their families.

The Abu Dhabi Police Nursery of the Clubs Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters extended in-kind donations, which included food items given by the nursery children, their families, and the nursery staff to the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation in support of the charitable and humanitarian work that is implemented under the Abu Dhabi Police activities of the Zayed Day for Humanitarian Work.

Captain Mariam Jasim Ali Saeed, Chief of the Police Nursery Section, said that the initiative of collecting and distributing donations from the children and handing them to the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation is a sincere expression of the feelings of children and their parents towards charity. She noted, “This stresses the importance of raising young generations on the love of charities and humanitarian work, which is encouraged by the Islamic faith especially that we are now in the Holy Month of Ramadan.” She stressed that the humanitarian work day is a day that humanitarian initiatives must be promoted.
