The Training Department Wins ADP Seven-a-Side Football Tournament


ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, July 26th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The 7th Ramadan Football Championship concluded at the ADP Special Tasks Section’s stadium. 6 teams representing different sections of the Department participated in the tournament, namely; the Training Section; the Anti-Riot Section; the VIP Protection Section; the Official Tasks Section; the Equestrian Activities Section; and Support services.   The Training Section was crowned champion of the tournament, defeating  the Anti-Riot Section with a score of 5 to 1, in a blaring game that aroused the feelings of the public.   It is noteworthy that the Anti-Riot Section team ranked second, the Official Tasks Section team came third after defeating his opponent, the VIP Protection Section team,  in the penalty shootouts.   The closing ceremony was attended by Colonel Rashid Suhail Saeed Al Ali, Head of Guards and Special Tasks Department; Colonel Ali Hassan Al Kindi, Chief of the Equestrian Activity Section; Colonel Awad Al Dhaheri, Head of Official Tasks Section; Major Ibrahim Al Manahi, Head of the Anti-Riot Section; as well as a number of officers, non-commissioned officers and civilians.

The tournament was arbitrated by: Captain Hisham Lotfi, field referee; Captain Mohammed Kaboshi, field referee; and Captain Hassan Ibrahim Souri, assistant referee.

In the halftime break, the Department organized a contest in dismantling and assembling weapons with the participation of 6 teams on behalf of the department’s sections, each team consists of two people. The Official Tasks Section team won first place, the Training Section and the Anti-Riot Section teams ranked second and third respectively.

It is noteworthy that player Saeed Bayat won the “MVP” title in the tournament, while Abdul Rahman Abdullah, was named best goalkeeper. The title of “Golden Shoe” went to player Mohammed Mubarak.

At the end of the Tournament, Colonel Rashid Suhail Al Ali handed over the Tournament’s trophy to the Training Section Team; and the second and third place trophies to the Anti-Riot Sections and Official Tasks Teams. Players of the top three teams also received gold medals.   Furthermore, Colonel Al Ai also honored the top three winning teams in the Weapons Assembly and Disassembly competition, and handed the trophy to the Official Tasks Section team.

On the same note, Head of the Special Tasks Department honored heads of departments and chiefs of sections of the participating teams, namely, Colonel Ali Hassan Khaseif Al Kindi, Head of Equestrian Activity Section; Major Ibrahim Al Manahi, Head of the Anti-Riot Section; Lieutenant Khalifa Al Hamdan, from the VIP Protection Section; and Lieutenant Rashid Al Shehhi, from the Anti-Riot Section.

Colonel Rashid lauded the efforts of the participants in the tournament and their role in reinforcing the role of sports; promoting harmony, communication and interaction; achieving amity, cohesion; and strengthening confidence in the capabilities of others. He also stressed the importance of establishing common rules for further fraternal cooperation among Abu Dhabi Police staff members.  Furthermore, Colonel Rashid honored Captain Ahmed Al Zubair Mohammed Jahallah, former sports activities official, and handed him a commemorative shield, in recognition of his efforts in the area of sports activity.

Concluding, Head of the Department remitted the Tournament’s Shield to Captain Faisal Ali Al Kathiri, Head of the Training Section, in charge of the sports activity at the Department.  In turn, Captain Al Kathiri handed over the Tournament’s Sponsor Shield to Head of Guards and Special Tasks Department, Colonel Rashid Suhail Saeed Al Ali.
