As part of the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day celebration, the Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police took part in the “Gift over Eidiah” initiative under the auspices of Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and for the benefit of thalassemia and cancer patients across the UAE.
Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom, General Director of Community Protection and Crime Prevention at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, confirmed that the participation of the Community Police in the initiative is to introduce a realistic picture of the police’s societal role, as it falls within the premise that all parties must work together to achieve the objective of the community.
He said: “The initiative is dedicated to caring for children affected by thalassemia and cancer, which reflects the keenness of its organizers to participate and assume their responsibility to volunteer in the community. The initiative is based off of the belief and responsibility towards future generations to alleviate suffering caused by the disease and to re-instill joy within an aching heart.”
For his part, Major Bahyan Hamad Al Ameri, Chief of the Community Police Section in Abu Dhabi, highlighted the keenness of the police to take part in humanitarian and social initiatives that enhance communication amongst every segment of society throughout various occasions. He noted that a delegation from the Community Police departments in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain visited hospital patients across the country to check on their health and help alleviate their pain, stressing that every segment of society deserves to be able to return safely home to their families.
