The Ramadan Council that was held at the house of Emirati martyr Tareq Al Shehhi called for dedicating a curriculum within the national education curricula to tackle the topic of UAE martyrs. The UAE martyrs include those who died on the battlefield; while performing their national duties, during training, or while on their way to work. The council also called for launching a satellite channel that focuses on the family institution, its role in nurturing good citizens and in instilling the principles of loyalty and the feeling of belonging to the UAE and its leadership. Participants at the Council also called for establishing a school named after Martyr Tareq Al Shehhi.
The Ramadan Council, organized by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau in the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, was hosted by the family of the martyr, First Lieutenant Tareq Mohammad Al Shehhi on Wednesday evening at their house in the Sham area of Ras Al Khaimah. Participants at the Council elaborated on the topic of "Martyrs: They Will Not be Forgotten." The council was moderated by writer and media figure Fadheela Al Muaini, and attended by a number of female experts on education, social, and family affairs, along with a large number of attendees and relatives.
The Council tackled a number of issues including the attention dedicated by the leadership and government to the human being and how citizens rally around their higher leadership. The participants also indicated that the UAE is constantly presenting unique and leading models of cohesion between the leadership and the UAE people. The UAE citizens have always endeavored to express their loyalty and allegiance to the country by all means possible, as a sign of gratitude to the higher leadership, which spared no effort to achieve citizens' aspirations, fulfill their needs, and provide them with a decent living.
Furthermore, the participants underscored the pivotal role of the various media, in fostering the values of citizenship and national identity, by broadcasting purposeful programs that help to building good future generations, conscious of the importance of loyalty and belonging to the UAE, by promoting the spirit of giving back to the country and its wise leadership.
The MoI’s Initiative
Moreover, the participants praised the MoI’s initiative of organizing the Ramadan Councils. They also commended the MoI’s valuable and instrumental role in fostering social ties and instilling the feelings of belonging and loyalty to the UAE and its leadership in the new generation.
For her part, writer and media figure Fadheela Al Muaini, Head of Supplements Section in Al Bayan Newspaper, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to moderate the MoI’s Ramadan Councils for the second consecutive year. She touted the councils as an annual gift presented to the UAE society by the MoI. These councils tackle vital topics of interest to citizens, related to the family and children, with a view to maintain the fabric of the UAE society. Mrs. Al Muaini also explained that the opportunity of moderating Martyr Tareq Al Shehhi’s Council is an honor awarded to her by the MoI’s Law Respect Culture Bureau.
Naimah Abdullah Al Sharhan, from the Ministry of Education, praised the idea of convening Ramadan Councils adopted by the MoI, as per the directives of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. "By launching these councils, H.H Sheikh Saif has established for a cultural movement," she explained. "These councils have elaborated on many important and vital topics that are inherent to our daily life. And today’s council has tackled the issue of belonging and loyalty to the UAE, as well as the deep essence of sacrifice for the country in its sublime form; martyrdom for the sake of the UAE."
For her part, Maryam Abdullah Saif Al Shehhi, Head of Ras Al Khaimah Girl Scouts, discussed the importance of the council. "Martyr Tareq Al Shehhi’s council has tackled the topic of martyrdom and sacrifice for the country," she said. "By hosting this council, the family of the martyr Tareq Al Shehhi personifies the sublime and noble meaning of martyrdom. The martyr has sacrificed his life to uphold the UAE sovereignty. Through this Council, we seek to inculcate these values in the spirit of the new generation. We all witnessed how the UAE leadership reacted to this great tragedy; how the UAE leaders and people all honored the memory of the Martyr Tareq Al Shehhi."
Sheikha Youaan Al Sbousi, , member of the Advisory Council of Sharjah, member of the Board of Trustees for the Sheikha Shamsa Bint Suhail Award for Creative Women, and Education Counselor for the Sharjah British International Schools, praised the wisdom and farsightedness of Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. She noted that the idea of the Ramadan Councils represents a genius idea imbued with sublime feelings towards the UAE people. "Martyr Tareq Al Shehhi’s council is a clear testament of the enlightened vision of our higher leadership," Al Sbousi said. "Our leadership has always strived to underline all issues of concern to community members, and has always believed in the importance of inculcating good citizenship in the new generation, based on love and sacrifice for the UAE in order to elevate it’s the country’s stature with pride, dignity, and glory. All of these values are the essence of martyrdom for the country, which is the most sublime form of sacrifice."
Martyr's Family
For their part, the family of martyr First Lieutenant Tareq Mohammad Al Shehhi valued the leadership's support to the bereaved family, which had a significant role in alleviating their grief for the loss of their son, Tareq. The family of the martyr also stressed that convening a Ramadan Council in the martyr’s house is an additional testament of the leadership’s attention to support and nurture the human being for the sake and welfare of the UAE. The martyr's family also extended their thanks and gratitude to the MoI, represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau, for this cultural initiative.
