Japan to Present an Exhibition Pavilion as the Guest Nation at the Saudi Arabia Heritage and Cultural Festival (Janadriyah Festival)

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Monday, April 11th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Saudi Arabia Heritage and Cultural Festival (Janadriyah Festival), organized by the Saudi Arabian National Guard, will be held in the Saudi Arabian capital city of Riyadh from April 13 (Wednesday) to April 29 (Friday), 2011. As the first guest country from Asia at this festival, Japan will be presenting the Janadriyah 2011 Japan Pavilion.

Organized around the concept of "Cool! Japan for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," the pavilion will present a comprehensive picture of the attraction of Japan, including exhibits by 12 top Japanese companies such as Isuzu, Sony, Toyota, Nissan, and Panasonic; the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; The Japan Foundation, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The exhibits will feature advanced technologies related to water, the environment, energy, automobiles, digital home appliance, and other fields, as well as traditional culture such as swords and armors, and modern Japanese culture, including anime, games, fashion, that are popular worldwide.

As everyone is aware, Japan faces severe circumstances as a result of the recent earthquake and tsunami that struck in the northeast of the country. The preparation committee would like to express their sympathies to many people in Japan who were affected by the disaster, and also gratitude for many messages of condolences and support from the people of Saudi Arabia. Answering to these messages, the Japan Pavilion aims to show the vitality and reliance of Japan – the Japanese strength – that is represented by our traditional arts and by our science and technology.

The Janadriyah 2011 Japan Pavilion provides a space where anyone can easily see, hear, and feel the appeal of Japan, and the preparation committee hopes that everyone will return home with exciting memories. It also hopes that the interest the people of Saudi Arabia will show in Japan shall serve as a solid foundation for the future relationship between Japan and Saudi Arabia, and will further strengthen the partnership between our two countries.
