Awareness Lecture for Emirates Transport Drivers

Captain bin Thiban while delivering the lecture to drivers.Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, January 10th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate recently organized an awareness lecture for Emirates Transport drivers. The lecture comes in line with the approach of communicating with the community and with the traffic awareness plan that targets heavy vehicles’ drivers in both public and private sectors, with the aim of raising the level of drivers’ traffic safety awareness.

Captain Hamdan Hassan bin Thiban, from the Public Relations Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, shed light on the main reasons leading to accidents such as not stopping in dedicated parking zones, not ensuring the path is clear before entering a road, sudden swerving, failure to leave sufficient safe distance between vehicles, excessive speeding, failure to drive within the designated lanes, neglect and lack of attention while driving among others.

The lecturer explained the proper safety tips for driving in foggy conditions and the risks of misusing hazard signals while driving. He also highlighted the potential road surprises that motorists may face, and called upon drivers to adhere to traffic law and speed limits. He also stressed the importance of yielding for bus drivers as they stop at their designated stops.
