Analogix Introduces DisplayPort-to-VGA Converters

ANX621X Family Receiver Chips Allow Next Generation Notebooks and Mobile Device Users to Continue Connecting With Legacy Projectors and Displays

SANTA CLARA, Calif - Tuesday, June 4th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Analogix Semiconductor, Inc. today announced the availability of its new ANX621X Family of discrete DisplayPort™ to video graphics array (VGA) converter chips, which allow PC and mobile phone makers to continue designing notebooks, tablets and phones that work with the millions of installed VGA-compatible projectors, monitors and TVs.

Microprocessor makers have increasingly been dropping integrated analog VGA transmitters from their devices to reduce costs and power consumption. Yet many enterprise and consumer users still require VGA connectivity to display their video output on existing projectors and other devices.

Analogix’s ANX621X Family line addresses the continued need for VGA connectivity with a selection of three DisplayPort receiver chips, all fully compliant with VESA® DisplayPort 1.2 and Embedded DisplayPort eDP v1.3 standards. Their high bit-rate (HBR2) 5.4 gigabits-per-second input reduces power use while maximizing video resolution and providing interoperability with all VGA-compatible displays.

“We’re pleased to be further expanding our already industry-leading portfolio of DisplayPort solutions,” said Andre Bouwer, vice president of marketing at Analogix. “These converters will allow system makers to quickly and easily enable even the newest, slimmest notebooks to connect to any display, including VGA projectors.”

The Davis Series family of DisplayPort-to-VGA converters includes:

• ANX6210 – Up to 1,920 x 1,200 resolution (1 lane at 5.4 Gbps)

• ANX6211 – Up to 2,560 x 1,600 resolution (2 lane at 5.4 Gbps)

• ANX6212 – Up to 2,560 x 1,600 resolution with embedded micro controller (2 lane at 5.4 Gbps)

Analogix Semiconductor is the leading supplier of DisplayPort-compliant semiconductors and IP products used in notebooks, tablets and other mobile devices. The DisplayPort standard is an innovative, packetized digital interface for high-resolution video and audio that was developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA).
