Nigerian Operators to Meet to Adapt Strategies that Capitalise on Boom

LONDON - Wednesday, August 24th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

Nigeria Com 2011

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nigeria is one of Africa’s largest and more dynamic telecoms markets, thanks to a legacy of healthy competition, a unified licensing regime and high levels of investment. The mobile market retains its promise of resilient growth as subscription penetration is projected to increase from 50% to 80% by the end of 2015. Despite this, many operators are seeing slower overall revenue growth.

In response, operators are locked in fierce competition to capitalise on the growing data market. Across the board, they have prioritised network coverage and quality of service as a route to increase customers and ARPU in the face of slowing revenues.

The companies which will succeed in seizing the best opportunities will have to move fast and be innovative. This will be the focus of the 2nd annual Nigeria Com, the country’s premier telecoms conference & exhibition, which will take place in the Eko Expo Centre, Lagos, Nigeria, on 20-21 September 2011 (www.comworldseries.com/nigeria).

“Nigeria’s telecoms, media and ICT market is booming, but its stakeholders must adapt their strategies to new market conditions and build new partnerships to deliver the best services; that is why Nigeria Com is such an important event as it encourages networking and information sharing,” says Julie Rey, Conference Director at organisers Informa Telecoms & Media.

30+ speakers from regional operators, regulators and solutions providers have so far confirmed their participation at Nigeria Com. The conference will include presentations from the market’s leading operators, with the CEOs of Airtel, Etisalat, Visafone, and senior representatives from MTN, Glo, Starcomms and more; government, including the Ministry of Telecommunications and NCC; and companies offering innovative solutions to maximise the growth opportunities in the market.

They will offer their visions and share their experiences on the most topical issues in Nigeria’s market: innovating to defend market position, improving networks and services to maximise growth, the role of optical fibre in improving networks, disciplined investment and smart use of infrastructure assets, energy and power provision, identifying value added services that make sense to the market, opportunities in mobile money, maximising customer loyalty, market forecasts and more.

“The conference agenda includes plenty of interactive sessions to stimulate open discussion between the speakers and attendees on all aspects of regional telecoms,” says Caroline Wiezien, Marketing Manager, Informa Telecoms & Media. “It’s a unique opportunity for all stakeholders in Nigerian telecoms to properly discuss market dynamics, share experiences and set benchmarks and strategies for the year ahead.”

Nigeria Com is the only world-class event dedicated to the communications industry in Nigeria. 800+ operators (fixed, mobile, wireless), ISPs, regulators, investors and vendors from the country will gather to debate the opportunities and challenges facing their markets. The conference will be co-located with an exhibition that showcases the latest innovations from over 50 telecoms companies in Nigeria and across the globe.
