9th Edition of Sharjah Munshid Programme to Tour Seven Arab Countries

Search for world’s best “Nasheed” singers to get underway from 24 August

Sharjah Media Corporation is preparing to launch the ninth edition of its Sharjah Munshid Programme, from 24th August – 7th September, an initiative held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to identify the world’s best Nasheed (Islamic-style) singers.

The programme’s 2016 tour will take it on a journey through seven Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Algeria, Morocco and the UAE.While the tour will be limited to several Arab countries, entrants from all over the world can submit their audio and video submissions, during the programme’s tour dates, in order to be considered.

Najmuddin Hashim, the Executive Producer of the Sharjah Munshid Programme, said:

“Now in its ninth edition, the Sharjah Munshid Programme celebrates singers who were recognised for their Nasheed singing, from previous editions of the programme, and will be honouring some of them, during the programme’s 2016 tour, by choosing candidates for the finals.”

The Programme’s Selection Committee’s journey will start on 24th August, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Committee will meet those who wish to participate in the programme in Noire Hall, Park Hayat Hotel. On 25th August, the Committee will move to the Omani capital, Muscat, where it will meet candidates at the Grand Hermes Hotel.

For those who wish to participate, in Jordan, the Selection Committee will meet on 27th August in Jerasa Hall, Intercontinental Hotel, Amman. On 30th August the committee will arrive in Algeria, at the Sheraton Hotel, and on 31st August they will be in Egypt, at the Ritz CarletonNile, in Cairo, before flying to the Moroccan Capital, Rabat, the following day, at the Sofitel Rose Garden Hotel. Sharjah will be the final destination, on 7 September 2016, at the Sharjah TV Building.

On each date of the tour, auditions will start at 8:00am and continue until 8:00pm.

For those living in countries outside of the programme’s seven-nation tour, but would like to participate, they can submit their applications at www.smc.ae/munshid via audio and video, from 24th August to 7th September 2016.
