Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior approved on Monday a plan to put the “Integration Doctrine” logo on Civil Defense vehicles. The logo represents a symbol of collective work.

During a meeting at the Ministry of Interior’s Headquarters, HH Sheikh Saif reviewed the ‘Traffic Light Controller’, which overrides traffic signals, giving emergency vehicles priority and right of way, when in rescue or firefighting missions. HH Sheikh Saif also reviewed the quick response system to ensure the timely arrival at accident locations through the shortest route. The meeting was attended, alongside HH Sheikh Saif, by Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaiaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Port Affairs; Engineer Khalid Mohamed Hashim, Executive Director of Land Transport Sector; and Engineer Salah Mohamed Al Marzouqi, Director of Integrated Intelligent Transportation Systems, in the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi.

Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, Director General of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi, explained that the adoption of the new technologies reflects the keenness of the police leadership to allow the civil defense sector to keep pace with the latest global technological advancements related to firefighting and rescue missions in various locations.

He added that the ‘Traffic Light Controller’ overrides traffic signals, giving emergency vehicles priority and right of way without affecting the flow of traffic; noting that this revolutionary system reduces response time to emergencies and protects pedestrians at the traffic signals from accidents.

Lt. Colonel Al Ansari concluded: “The second device, which is installed on the ‘Emergency First Responder’ vehicle, reduces the response time. It receives information directly from the Operations Room without the data path being routed via the public telecommunications network or the Tetra device; it locates the nearest civil defense center to the accident and identifies the shortest route to the accident location, with a detailed map of the route. It also provides the opportunity to call for back-up and support teams from the neighboring civil defense centers, as well as ambulances and traffic patrols.”
