The Punitive & Correctional Institutions Department at Abu Dhabi Police recently organized the annual students’ forum 2016 at Al Wathba Section in Abu Dhabi. The forum is part of the qualification program aimed at preparing and rehabilitating inmates to join the workforce.
Colonel Saeed Hassan Al Yammahi, Acting Deputy Director of the Department, stressed the importance of the fruitful cooperation between the Punitive & Correctional Institutions Department and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), as well as the active partnership that contributes to developing society and the government services in the UAE. He also noted that the qualification program is carried out in accordance with the latest practices and has yielded notable achievements.
For his part, Dr. Farid Al Yahki, Director of the Labor Market program, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the supervisors of the program for their efforts to provide the necessary facilities and support to the program’s mission. He also highlighted the importance of the program and positive results and impact on students, and stressed the need for inmates to pursue the program after their release. Dr. Al Yahki pointed out that the forum included diverse activities and was the perfect opportunity for students to meet the program’s graduate alumni, who offer their experience and expertise to their colleagues and encourage them to study in order to achieve success that awaits them.
The forum’s activities commenced with a get-acquainted session between the program’s graduates and current students. A number of graduates gave an overview of their experience and how they completed the program after their release, despite the difficulties. They also highlighted the positive change that occurred in their lives and how they returned to their families and community, as productive members, capable of giving and working and well-protected against relapsing into a life of crime and delinquency.
