The President of the UAE Showjumping Cup Presented by Longines

International Olympic showjumping riders have landed in the UAE to compete alongside national superstars for the prestigious President of The UAE Showjumping Cup presented by Longines, of which the Swiss watchmaker is also the Official Timekeeper and Watch. The event is in association with Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Emirates Equestrian Federation.

Under the Patronage of H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, the FEI-affiliated event hosted by Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club comprises of four days of intensive competition, equestrians will put themselves against the clock and compete on the region’s toughest showjumping courses to win the coveted annual trophy from the 15th- 18th February.

CSI05* and CSI2* classes are scheduled, with the prestigious final of The Longines International President Cup Grand Prix of Al Ain set to kick off at 2.30pm on Saturday 18th February. With fences 1.6m high over two rounds to decide the champion, spectators and equestrian fans are assured a high-octane sporting event with the crowd glued to their seats.

Be sure to catch our UAE World Equestrian Game qualifiers such as Sheikh Majid Al Qassimi, Sheikh Ali Al Qassimi, Abdullah Al Marri, Hamad Al Kirbi, Moftah Dhaheri and Abdullah Humaid Al Muhari who will ride for the UAE team, competing against Germany, Italy, Ireland, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and 16 other countries amongst which are Olympic rider and team gold medalist of 2016, Philippe Rozier.

In addition to the outstanding UAE team, Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum, a UAE National Champion and bronze medalist represented the UAE in the Asian Games, will also be competing. Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum was a double medalist in the second Asian Games, where she won silver in both team and individual. Sheikha Latifa represented the UAE for the first time as a team at the World Equestrian games and was the first showjumping rider from the UAE to compete at the Olympics.
